We've been here in Bagh Kunjalpur for a while now. It's a busy spot but we manage. Most of the work involves getting the looms ready and making sure the yarn is right. It gets dusty in the workshop sometimes, but that’s just how weaving goes. Carpets and dhuries take time. People sometimes come by just to see how the patterns come together on the frame. We don't have a fancy showroom or anything like that. It's mostly just us working. My uncle started this and now a few of us keep it going. Some days the colors don't match exactly like the customer wanted, so we have to dye the wool again. It's a lot of manual labor. The floors are usually covered in scraps of thread. We don't really do much advertising because everyone in the neighborhood knows where we are. If someone needs a rug, they just walk in. We try to get things done when we say we will, but hand-weaving can be slow if the weather is too humid or if someone gets sick. It's just a regular life here. Nothing too special about it, just making things out of wool and cotton. We sit on low stools most of the day. It’s hard on the back, but we’re used to it. The tea guy comes by twice a day and that’s usually when we take a break. The lights in the back room flickered for a week before we fixed them. It's things like that which keep us busy. We have old wooden combs for packing the threads tight.
