Samar Fly Ash Bricks

Out here in the Tuljapur area of Osmanabad district, things are pretty straightforward. Our brick yard is in the Tirth post office area. We work mostly with fly ash, which is a bit different from the traditional clay bricks you see. It’s a bit messy, and the gray dust tends to get on everything, but the bricks come out nice and heavy. We spend most of our time out in the sun, moving the molds and stacking the finished bricks. It’s quiet out here compared to the bigger towns. We mostly see locals and truck drivers who come to pick up loads for building projects around the district. The days are long and the work is physical, but there’s a certain feeling of getting things done when you see the rows of bricks all lined up and ready to go. We don't have any complicated systems; we just count the bricks and load them up. Sometimes the machines we use for mixing act up and we have to spend the morning fixing them. That’s just part of life here. We’ve been in this spot for a while and we know the rhythm of the seasons. When the rains come, we have to change how we work, but otherwise, it’s the same routine day after day. We just try to keep things moving and get the orders filled. It's not a glamorous job, but it is what we know how to do. We just take it one day at a time.
