Chetak Krushi Seva

In the village of Dudhgaon, over in the Sangli district, we run Chetak Krushi Seva. We are situated right near the Dattasai Temple, so we hear the temple activities all day long. This is farming country, so most of what we do involves seeds, fertilizers, and tools that the local farmers need. Our shop is a place where people stop by not just to buy things, but to talk about the weather and how the crops are doing this year. The floor is usually a bit dusty from the sacks of grain and soil. Dudhgaon is a small place, so we know just about everyone who walks through the door. We don't have any corporate training or big slogans; we just know what works for the land around here because we’ve lived here our whole lives. During the planting season, it gets incredibly busy and we are on our feet from early morning until late at night. The rest of the year is a bit slower. We keep our records in big notebooks and try to keep the inventory organized, even though the bags of fertilizer take up a lot of room. It’s honest work, and it feels good to be a part of the village life here near the temple. We don't try to be anything we aren't, just a simple service for the farmers in Sangli. Often, someone will sit on the bench outside for an hour just to rest their legs and share some news.
