Jyothi Flour Mill

Up here in Thamaraipakkam, life moves a bit slower than it does in the big cities. Jyothi Flour Mill is located at 36/1, and we have been part of this Uttukottai landscape for a long time. It is a basic setup where the main thing you hear is the steady hum of the grinders. The walls are always a bit dusty from the flour, but that is just part of the job we do. We open up early because that is when people want to get their work done before the heat of the day really kicks in. We do not have a big team of people or a complicated management structure. It is just us handling the bags and making sure everything is ground properly. Sometimes we sit on the wooden bench outside when there is a lull in the work. The road outside is not too busy, but you see the same familiar faces passing by every day. We know whose daughter is getting married and who is traveling for work. It is that kind of place. We do not use any fancy technology to track things; we just use a ledger and our own memory. It works well enough for us. The equipment needs a bit of oiling and care every now and then to keep it from rattling too much. It is honest work, and it keeps us connected to the people around here. We just take it one day at a time.
