We've been out here in Salbani for a good while now. The plant is situated right in Paschim Midnapur, and if you know this part of West Bengal, you know how the weather gets. It's mostly quiet around the village until the trucks start rolling in early in the morning. Our day usually kicks off before the sun is fully up because there is always something that needs moving or checking. We don't really have fancy offices here. It’s just a lot of floor space, some heavy machinery, and the sound of work being done. Most of the guys who work here are locals from the surrounding post areas, so we all know each other's families. It makes the long shifts a bit easier to handle. Sometimes the rain slows things down, especially during the monsoon months when the roads around the district get a bit muddy, but we manage to keep things moving. We deal with various industrial materials every day. It’s heavy work, and by the time five o'clock rolls around, everyone is pretty dusty. We aren't doing anything revolutionary; we are just making sure the orders get loaded and sent out to wherever they are going. There’s a small tea stall just outside where we usually sit for a bit after the gates close. It’s a simple setup, but it works for what we do. No one here wears a suit, that’s for sure.
