City Hardware

City Hardware is right at Nimtala Chowk in the Paschim Midnapur district. It’s a local spot where people from nearby villages and the town itself stop by when they’re working on a project. The shop is filled with the smell of paint and grease, which is pretty standard for a place like this. We have piles of PVC pipes out front and rows of tools hanging on the walls. It’s not a very big space, so things tend to get stacked on top of each other. We spend our mornings opening up the shutters and sweeping the front step before the first customers arrive. Usually, it’s someone looking for a specific size of pipe or a particular type of cement. We don’t have a big team, just a couple of us who know where everything is hidden. Sometimes it takes a minute to find a small part in the back room because we have so many different things stored there. The traffic at the chowk can be a bit much in the afternoons, but it brings people in. We don't have a website or anything like that. We just rely on people knowing we are here at the corner. Most of the guys who come in are regulars who have been buying from us since we first opened. We talk about the local news while we weigh out nails or mix a bucket of paint. It’s just a regular hardware shop doing its thing every day and trying to stay busy.
