Naveen Hardware

Our shop is over at 36-34-68 in the Jayappaliiy district. It’s a hardware store, so you can imagine it’s filled with all sorts of metal bits, tools, and heavy cans of paint. I’ve been working here for quite some time now, and my hands are usually a bit greasy or dusty by the end of the shift. We have shelves reaching all the way to the ceiling, packed with everything from tiny brass screws to big power tools. It’s a bit of a maze if you don’t know your way around the aisles. Customers come in looking for very specific parts, and half the time they don't even know the name of what they need, so we spend a lot of time guessing and searching through various bins. The lighting isn't the best in the back corners, but we have a couple of flashlights handy for that. We get a lot of local builders and plumbers who stop by early in the morning before they go to their job sites. It’s a lot of lifting and carrying, especially when the new stock arrives and we have to unload the crates from the truck. We don't have any fancy displays; we just put things where they fit on the shelf. Sometimes the old computer acts up, and we go back to writing receipts by hand, which is fine with us. It’s a busy little corner of the world, and there’s always someone needing a pipe fixed.
