Govindam Cash And Carry is located in Indawar Village. We are on the Old Post Office Road, which is a fairly well-known path for folks in Merta Tehsil and the wider Nagaur District. We set this up as a place where people can buy in larger quantities if they need to, but we also sell smaller bits to whoever walks in. The building is an old one, and it stays relatively cool even when the sun is beating down outside. We carry a lot of the staple foods that people in the village use every day—bags of grain, big tins of oil, and sacks of salt. It’s a lot of heavy lifting, to be honest. My back usually aches by the end of the day from moving the 50kg bags around. We don't have many employees, so we do most of the work ourselves. The floor is usually covered in a bit of dust from the flour sacks, and we spend a lot of time sweeping it out. People come in from the outlying farms on their tractors to load up for the month. It gets very busy on certain days when everyone decides to shop at once. We don't have a computer system or anything; we just write things down in a ledger and use a calculator. It works for us. We've lived in Indawar all our lives, so we know most families that come through our doors.
