About Umiya Agarbatti – Food & Beverages in Mehsana
Umiya Agarbatti is based in Visnagar. It is a quiet kind of place compared to the big cities. The main thing you notice when you walk in is the smell. It’s a mix of different woods and powders used for making the incense sticks. We spend a lot of our time sorting through the raw materials and making sure the sticks are drying properly. It’s a bit of a slow process, but you can’t really rush it. In Visnagar, things move at their own pace anyway. The building we use is old and has a lot of character, even if the roof leaks a tiny bit when it rains really hard. We have a few people helping out, mostly local folks who have been doing this for years. There aren't any big machines making a lot of noise here. It’s mostly handwork and simple tools. We keep our supplies in big bags stacked against the walls. Some days the dust from the powders gets everywhere, and we have to spend the afternoon cleaning up. It’s just the nature of making agarbatti. We don’t have a fancy storefront with glass windows. People in town just know where we are if they need anything. We wake up, start the work, and finish when the light goes down. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy. We don’t feel the need to change much as long as the work keeps coming in.
