Our factory is located on the Gidc Main Road in the Budasan area. We are part of the Kadi Gidc industrial belt in the district. It is a very dusty and busy place with trucks moving in and out at all hours. Sonya Foods is basically a place where we process and pack food items for distribution. The machines make a lot of noise throughout the day, so we’ve all gotten used to shouting a bit just to be heard over the hum. We have a decent-sized team of workers from the local villages around Budasan. They come in early and stay until the shifts are done. It’s hard work, especially when the sun is beating down on the corrugated metal roofs of the units. We don’t have a fancy showroom or a reception desk. Most of our space is taken up by the processing lines and the storage area for raw materials. We get our supplies from the surrounding areas and try to keep everything moving. There’s always a bit of grease on the floor or some spilled grain, but we clean up as we go. It’s a private limited company, but it feels more like a family-run shop on a bigger scale. We don’t spend much time on fancy talk or meetings. We just focus on the production numbers and making sure the packaging is sealed right before the trucks take the loads away to the distributors.
