About Laxmi Timber – Building & Construction Material in Mehsana
Laxmi Timber is based at Plot No. 117 and 118 in the Gidc. We have two plots because the wood takes up a whole lot of room. When you walk in, the first thing you notice is the smell of fresh-cut logs and the sound of the forklift moving around. We spend our days unloading big trucks that come in from all over. The timber needs to be sorted by size and type, and that takes a lot of muscle and time. We have piles of planks stacked high, almost reaching the roof in some spots. It’s dusty work, and you definitely can’t wear your nice clothes here if you don’t want them ruined by sap or dirt. Most of us have been working with wood for a long time, so we can tell if a piece is good just by looking at the grain. We don’t have a fancy showroom; if you want to see what we have, you just walk through the stacks with us. Sometimes the rain makes things difficult because we have to cover everything up quickly with big tarps to keep the moisture out. We work hard and don't spend much time on fancy talk. When a customer comes in, we help them find the right beams for their project and load them up. It’s honest, physical work that leaves you tired but satisfied at the end of the shift.
