Uma Plast Industries

Our workshop is at 265 in the Dediyasan Industrial Estate, and it’s been the home of Uma Plast Industries for quite some time. It’s an older building with high ceilings and big fans that don't do much when the Gujarat summer really hits. We work with plastics, so there’s always that distinct smell in the air and the sound of the molding machines going. It’s a busy place with people moving crates and checking the products. We don’t have a big front office or anything like that; you just walk in through the main gate and you’re right in the middle of it. The crew here is mostly local people who have been with us for years. We know the machines by their sounds and can tell when something isn't running right just by listening. It gets pretty dusty, especially when the wind blows through the estate, but we do our best to keep the workspace manageable. There’s no corporate hierarchy here; we all just do what needs doing, whether it’s fixing a leak or loading a truck. Lunch is usually a quick affair, sitting on whatever crates are empty at the time. We aren’t trying to be the biggest factory in Dediyasan, just a reliable one that gets the work done day after day. It’s a lot of hard work and long hours, but it’s what we do. We like the routine of it, even on the days when things break down.
