About Shekhar Textiles – Packaging Machines & Materials in Mehsana
If you head over to Phase-ii in Dediyasan, you'll find Shekhar Textiles spread across Plot No. 323 and 324. Having two plots gives us a bit more breathing room for the looms and the fabric rolls. The sound in here is quite something—a rhythmic clicking and thumping that you eventually stop noticing. We spend our days surrounded by thread and cloth of all different colors. It gets quite dusty with all the lint flying around, so we have to sweep a lot. My uncle started this business and then I took over the daily running of it. We don't have any fancy mission statements or marketing gurus. We just try to make sure the fabric is woven right and there aren't any snags in the material. The workers here have been doing this for a long time, so they know the machines better than anyone. We usually have a big water cooler near the entrance because it gets very warm inside with all the machinery running. In the evenings, we load up the tempos to send the finished goods out to the market. It’s a lot of manual work, and our hands are often stained with dye or dusty from the yarn. It’s just a regular textile unit doing its thing in the industrial estate.
