If you go down to Plot No 165 in the Dediyasan Industrial Estate, you’ll find our place. We work with metal strips and do a lot of cutting and processing right here. The machines are pretty old but they still do exactly what they’re supposed to do. It’s a loud environment with the sound of metal hitting metal all the time. We wear our earplugs and just get on with it. The floor is usually covered in small scrap pieces that we have to sweep up at the end of every shift. We’ve been in this spot for a good while and the locals know us. It isn't a place for meetings, it’s a place for work. We have stacks of metal waiting to be processed piled up near the back. Sometimes the rain leaks a little through the roof when it's heavy, so we have to move things around. It's just part of being in an older industrial shed. We don't try to make it look like something it isn't. We just take the orders and get the strips cut to the right size. It's dusty and noisy, but it's what we do. Our team is small, mostly people from the nearby area who have been with us for years. We just keep the wheels turning day after day. There is usually a truck waiting at the gate to pick up a load. It’s hard work but it is honest and keeps us busy.
