Maruti Wooden Industries

Maruti Wooden Industries is located at plot 270 in the Dediyasan Industrial Estate. If you come by, the first thing you’ll notice is the smell of cut wood. It’s everywhere, and honestly, you never really get used to the sawdust. It gets into your clothes and your hair by the end of the shift. We’ve got a good-sized shed here where the saws stay running most of the day. It’s loud work, so we don't talk much while the machines are on. We just use hand signals or wait for the breaks. This industrial estate has been our home for years. We know the guys at the units next door and we sometimes borrow tools or help each other out with heavy lifting. Our floor is covered in scraps and shavings, no matter how much we sweep. It’s just the nature of working with timber. We have a small office tucked in the corner where we keep the invoices and the tea kettle. It’s nothing special, just a place to sit down for a minute. We deal with all sorts of wood orders, and every day is a bit different depending on what’s on the schedule. Some days are slow and we spend them maintaining the blades, and other days we’re working flat out to get an order loaded onto a truck. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy. We just keep our heads down and get through the pile of lumber.
