Tyagi General Store

Tyagi General Store is located in the Khajuri area of Meerut City, right on Kila Road. It’s a place where everyone seems to know everyone else. I’ve been running this store for a long time, and it’s become a bit of a second home to me. We sell all the basic things a household might need, from tea leaves and sugar to soap and batteries. Kila Road can get quite hectic with bikes and rickshaws passing by, so there is always a bit of noise coming from outside. The shop itself is tucked into a corner, and we try to use every inch of space we have for storage. I have a small stool behind the counter where I sit when things are quiet, usually reading the newspaper or chatting with a neighbor who stopped by to say hello. Meerut has its own pace, and we just follow along with it every day. In the winter, we keep the door partially closed to keep the chill out, but in the summer, we leave it wide open for any breeze. People stop by on their way back from work to pick up stuff for dinner or things the kids need for school. We don’t really do any big promotions or anything like that. We just open up, sell what we have, and close up when the sun goes down. It’s a straightforward business. Most of the time, I’m just making sure the shelves don’t look too empty.
