Taneja Store

Taneja Store is tucked away at 33 Kanker Khera in the Govind Puri area of Meerut. It’s a straightforward kind of place where we don’t try to be anything we aren’t. Most of our day is spent behind the counter or moving crates from the delivery truck into the back room. The space isn’t huge, so we have to be careful about how we stack things so they don’t fall over. We’ve got a lot of families nearby who have been buying their daily needs from us for years. You get to know what people like and what they don’t. Sometimes the kids come in after school for a small treat, and that’s usually the busiest time of the day. Meerut can get quite cold in the winter, so we stay wrapped up and keep the tea flowing. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, and the shelves are a bit worn down at the edges, but they hold everything just fine. We don’t use any complicated systems here. We just write things down and keep track of what’s going out. It’s a lot of manual work, lifting and carrying, but it’s what we know. We open up early and we don’t leave until the last customer has gone home. It’s just a regular life running a local shop in a busy neighborhood like this one. No big surprises, just the daily grind of keeping the shelves full.
