Taneja Fabtex Private Limited

Our place, Taneja Fabtex, is located on Khandak Street. This street is always crowded and narrow, filled with the energy of a busy market. We deal with textiles and fabrics here. You’ll see rolls of cloth stacked up against the walls and piled high on the counters. It’s a bit of a maze inside because we try to fit as much as we can into the space we have. Moving around requires a bit of squeezing past the bundles. The air usually smells like fresh cotton and dye. We spend a lot of our time measuring out lengths for customers or unloading new arrivals from the rickshaws outside. It’s a Private Limited company on paper, but on the ground, it’s just us working hard every day. We don't bother with fancy displays. People come here because they know we have what they are looking for in the piles. Sometimes it gets a bit chaotic when three or four people want different things at the same time. We use old ledgers to keep track of some things, though we have a computer now too. The lighting isn't the best in the back of the shop, so we often take samples to the front door to see the colors in the sunlight. It’s a simple way of working, but it’s been our life for years on this street. We close up when the sun goes down and start all over again the next morning without much fuss.
