Shri Vaibhav Luxmi Super Shop

Over here at 544/9 in Jagriti Vihar, things are a bit quieter than in the main part of Meerut. Shri Vaibhav Luxmi Super Shop is what we call it, but it’s really just our family running a place for the neighborhood. We have a lot of shelves filled with everything from snacks to cleaning supplies. It takes a long time to dust everything, and honestly, we don't always get to it as often as we should. The floor is grey tile and it shows every footprint, especially when it’s muddy outside. We usually have a few fans going to keep the air moving because the shop gets stuffy. People from the nearby houses come in for their milk and bread in the morning. We know most of the neighbors by name and what they usually buy. Sometimes we sit out front for a minute to catch some fresh air. It’s a lot of work keeping track of what’s expiring and what we need to order more of. The register is old and makes a loud noise when the drawer opens. We don't have any big corporate way of doing things, just writing stuff down in a book and making sure people get what they need. It’s a long day, starting early and staying open late, but that’s the way a shop like this works in Jagriti Vihar. We just keep at it day after day in the 250004 area.
