It is a good spot because everyone knows where the chowki is. We handle a bit of everything here, since we are both a polyclinic and a hospital. The building is large enough to hold several departments, but it still feels like a local spot. People from the surrounding villages come here quite often. We have a lot of movement in the hallways. It’s a mix of doctors, nurses, and families carrying bags. The floors are hard tile and they stay cool even when the Meerut heat is at its worst. We don't have fancy lobbies with statues or anything. It’s just chairs and desks and medical equipment. The atmosphere is usually quite serious but friendly. We spend our time checking on people and making sure the supplies are stocked up. Being near the police chowki means there is always a bit of activity outside. We are used to the sounds of the street. Sometimes a stray dog will sit by the entrance in the shade. It’s a real place with real problems and real solutions. We just try to stay busy and helpful. Most of our day is spent talking to patients and their relatives. It is a lot of work but it feels right for our corner of Meerut.
