Ava Hand Fab.

Our place, Ava Hand Fab., is situated on Kunda Road, right behind the Mala Flour Mill. You can usually smell the grain being ground when you step out of our door. It’s an industrial sort of area, so there’s always some noise from the mill or trucks passing by. We do fabrication work, which means we spend our days with metal, tools, and heat. The workshop isn't the cleanest place in the world, as there’s usually some metal shavings on the floor by noon. We don’t mind it much. It’s a workspace where things actually get built. We have a small crew and we all know each other well. Most of the time we’re wearing overalls and safety gear because the work demands it. We aren't salespeople; we just talk to the customers about what they need and then we go back into the shop to make it. Kunda Road is a busy stretch, and being behind the mill makes us a little tucked away, but people find us. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to take a break, which gives us a chance to sit outside for a bit. We don’t have a fancy mission statement or anything. We just take the raw materials and turn them into something useful. It’s tough work, but it’s what we do. We pack up our tools at the end of the shift and do it again tomorrow.
