Olympic Zippers Ltd.

Our factory is at S-15 16 in the Partapur Industrial Estate over in Meerut. We have been making zippers here for a long time. It’s a big part of what happens in this industrial zone. If you walk into our building, you’ll see rows of machines that just keep clicking away, making miles of zipper chain. We do all kinds of sizes and colors. It’s a bit of a chaotic place with boxes stacked up to the ceiling and reels of tape everywhere. The workers are all from around here in Uttar Pradesh. They know how to fix the machines when they jam, which happens more often than we’d like. It’s not a fancy place with a lobby or anything like that. You just walk in past the loading dock. We have a lot of dust because of all the thread and metal bits, but we try to keep it as clean as a factory can be. We don't have a marketing department telling us what to say. We just make the zippers and sell them to whoever needs them for their jackets or bags. Some days are stressful when a machine breaks down or the power goes out, but that’s just how it is in Meerut. We’ve been doing this for years and we’ve gotten pretty used to the rhythm of the machines. It’s honest work that keeps us busy.
