Mayank General Store

If you go down to Main Bazar in Kserukhera, which is part of Meerut Cantt, you’ll find Mayank General Store. I’ve been here for a long time, and the shop hasn't changed much over the years. It’s a solid building with shelves that I built myself a long time ago. They are a bit crooked now, but they hold the weight of all the flour bags and detergent boxes just fine. The street outside is always noisy with motorcycles and people shouting, but inside it feels a bit more grounded. I spend a lot of time talking to the farmers and laborers who come in to buy their daily supplies. We sell a bit of everything—toothpaste, cooking oil, snacks, and even some basic stationery for the school kids. My hands are usually a bit dusty from handling the grain sacks. I don't really bother with decorations or big signs. People know where I am. It gets pretty hot in the summer, and I usually have a small plastic fan sitting on the counter blowing right on me. I like the routine of it all. Opening up, checking the stock, talking to the neighbors, and closing up when it gets dark. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what I know. The floor is concrete and easy to sweep, which is good because there’s always a bit of spill here or there. It's just a regular part of the bazar life. I don't see myself doing anything else.
