Being in this location means there is always someone passing by. I started this shop because the neighborhood needed a place for basic supplies without having to travel into the main city center. The address is officially Ganga Nagar, Meerut 250001. Inside, the walls are lined with all sorts of household goods. I keep things like washing powder, tea leaves, and snacks for the kids. The floor is concrete and I sweep it out every morning before the first customer arrives. It stays quite cool inside even when the heat picks up outside in the afternoon. People from the nearby houses usually walk over in the evenings. It is a quiet routine for the most part. I handle everything myself, from stocking the milk in the morning to locking the heavy shutters at night. There isn't any big sign out front, just the name and the sight of sacks and boxes. Sometimes I sit outside on a plastic chair when things are slow. Dealing with the distributors is the hardest part of the job.
