You can find us at Shop No. 2600 in Zakir Colony, right off the main Hapur Road. It is a crowded spot and there is always some noise from the rickshaws and trucks passing by. Inside the shop, it is a bit quieter but very full of fabric rolls and different threads. We spend our mornings unpacking new stock and trying to find space on the shelves. It is a bit of a squeeze sometimes because the shop isn't that big. We have been here for a while now and most of the locals know our faces. We don't do any big advertising or have a website. People just walk in when they see something they like in the front. We keep a diary of what we sell but mostly we remember the regular customers. The light in the shop isn't the brightest, so we often take pieces out to the doorway to show the true color in the sun. It is a lot of folding and unfolding all day long. My back gets a bit sore by evening from reaching for the top shelves. We drink a lot of tea while we wait for the rush hours. Zakir Colony is a lively place to work and there is always something happening on the street. We just keep the door open and wait for the next person to come in. There is no plan to move.
