G. T. Sports & Awards

We've been here at 218; Anu Books Lane on Shivaji Road for a while now. G. T. Sports & Awards is basically what it sounds like. We handle a lot of sports gear and those trophies people get at school events or local tournaments. It gets pretty busy when the cricket season starts up or when schools have their annual sports day. The shop isn't fancy, just shelves full of equipment and boxes of medals waiting to be engraved. Sometimes the lane gets a bit crowded with delivery bikes, but we manage. People usually come in knowing exactly what they need, like a specific bat or a set of jerseys for their team. We spend a lot of time making sure the names on the plaques are spelled right because nobody wants a trophy with a typo. It’s just us doing the daily work, unpacking new stock and helping whoever walks through the door. Shivaji Road is a good spot, plenty of people passing by. We don't really do big ads or anything like that. Word of mouth usually brings people back when they need more awards for the next season. It's a steady kind of business. We keep things simple here. If you need a whistle or a big gold-colored cup, we probably have it tucked away somewhere in the back. It’s a lot of manual work, moving heavy boxes and sorting through sizes, but it’s what we do.
