Dhamija Departmental

Dhamija Departmental is located right on the Main Road in the Shastri Nagar area of Meerut. We are quite close to the PVS area, which is always a very busy spot. We call it a departmental store, but to be honest, it is really just a larger version of a local grocery shop. We have some aisles you can walk through, even though they are a bit narrow and crowded with stock. We carry pulses, rice, different types of flour, and all the usual toiletries like soap and toothpaste. The lighting inside is a bit yellow and old, and we have to keep the fans going all day to stay cool. It is a family-run place through and through. I usually sit at the main counter while my cousins help the customers find what they are looking for on the shelves. We have seen this neighborhood change quite a lot over the years. Many new buildings and shops have come up, but our store stays pretty much the same as it always was. We don't have any automated computer system for our bills, we just know the prices of most things by heart. If we happen to forget, we just check the handwritten list we keep behind the desk. We get a lot of people coming in during the evenings after they finish their work. It gets a bit noisy and crowded then. We also keep some frozen things like peas and paneer in a small freezer. It is a lot of work to track all the inventory, but we manage it okay.
