Bhardwaj Store

Bhardwaj Store is located right in the middle of Meerut Cantt, over in Gang Bazar, Sadar. It’s a real crowded area, and the shop is usually full of stuff from the floor to the ceiling. I spend most of my day squeezing through the narrow aisles trying to find what someone asked for. Since it’s Meerut, things are always moving fast. We’ve got all the regular household things you’d expect, like soaps, oils, and pulses. I don’t have much time for sitting down because there’s always a delivery coming in or a customer waiting at the front. The counter is metal and has a few scratches on it from years of coins and bags being slid across. I try to keep things clean, but with the dust from the market, it’s a constant battle. Some days are just loud and chaotic, especially during the festival seasons when everyone is out shopping in Sadar. I’ve lived in this city my whole life, so I know the way people like to shop here. They want to see the things for themselves before they pay. I don't use any fancy computer systems; I still use a pen and a pad to keep my accounts. It feels more real that way. The shop isn't big, but it’s got a lot of history in its walls. Every evening, I pull the heavy shutters down and head home, ready to do it again tomorrow. It is hard work but I am used to the pace.
