Being Lawman Foundation

You can find us over in Ward Number 13, right near the Mahila Thana in Bharti Nagar, Sanhauli. Being so close to the women’s police station means we are in a very recognizable part of town. We called ourselves Being Lawman because we wanted to help regular people understand their rights and how to handle things when they run into trouble. We are not a law firm or anything formal like that. We are just a foundation where people can come when they feel a bit lost with rules and regulations. The office is a simple room in Sanhauli where we keep a few chairs and some basic guides. It is often noisy outside with the traffic and people going to the station, but we don't mind the buzz. We spend a lot of time just listening to people’s stories and trying to point them in the right direction. We do not use a lot of legal jargon because that just confuses folks even more. We speak plain English and local languages so everyone feels comfortable. It is just a small group of us trying to make the law feel less scary for the people in Bharti Nagar. We aren't looking for fame, just trying to be a helpful presence in the ward for anyone who needs a bit of guidance or just someone to listen.
