I’ve been around Mission Compound for quite a while now. Most people know the spot on Begum Bridge Road, it's always busy with traffic and people rushing around. We spend most of our mornings unloading crates and checking the pressure valves on the inventory we have in the back. It gets pretty dusty inside, but that’s just how it is when you’re dealing with pumps and heavy hardware all day long. Sometimes the tea stall down the street is the only thing that keeps us going during those really long summer afternoons. We aren't a huge fancy office with air conditioning, just a workspace filled with iron and grease. People come in looking for specific parts or just to ask how to fix a leak in their backyard setup. It’s mostly regular faces from the neighborhood. We don't spend much time on the computer unless we really have to for an order. Most of the work is done with our hands. We’ve seen the road change over the years, new shops coming and going, but we just stay here at No. 131 doing the same stuff. It’s a lot of heavy lifting and making sure the orders match the delivery slips we keep on the clipboard. Sometimes we get the timings wrong because the truck gets stuck in city traffic, but we manage. It’s not a perfect system, but we show up every day and get the pumps out to whoever needs them. It’s just how we run things here without any big fuss or complicated plans.
