Ak Textile Welfare Foundation

You can find us at House Number 430, Bilari House on Kanth Road. It is a well-known area and the house has been around for a long time. Ak Textile Welfare Foundation operates from the ground floor where we have enough room for our tables and some storage. The smell of fabric is usually the first thing you notice when you walk in. We don't have a fancy showroom or anything. It is more of a working office where we manage the textile side of things. There are always stacks of ledgers and sample books lying around. Kanth Road stays pretty busy with traffic, so there is a constant hum of engines outside the front door. We have a couple of big windows that let in some light, but it’s mostly fluorescent lamps inside. The staff is just a few locals who know their way around the textile world. We drink a lot of chai and spend our hours checking over orders or talking to weavers. It’s not the most organized-looking place, with bits of thread and paper everywhere, but we know where everything is. We don't try to look like those big corporate textile firms. This is just a local house where we do our work as best as we can. It’s a bit cramped sometimes, but it’s home for the foundation and we like it that way.
