Sindhu Rice Mill Private Limited

The rice mill is over in Dhaneswarpur, which is near Khakurda in the Paschim Medinipur district. Bikash Bandhab Giri is the one who keeps everything running around here. It is a big, open space with the smell of dry husks and grain everywhere. When the machines are on, you have to raise your voice just to be heard over the rumbling. We have a few big sheds where the paddy is stored before it goes into the mill. We work according to the seasons. When it is harvest time, we are busy from dawn until late at night. There is always a layer of dust on the windows, but that is just how it is in a mill. We do not have a fancy office with a carpet. We have a small room with a wooden table where the farmers come to settle their accounts. We use a simple scale to weigh the bags. It is a lot of heavy lifting, but we have a good crew of guys who have been with us for a long time. The village is small, so news travels fast. We do not need to spend money on ads. We just make sure the rice is clean and the bags are filled right. It is honest work and it keeps us busy. We are just a regular part of the landscape here in Midnapore.
