Maa Jharboni Cold Storage Private Limited

Down in Ganakbandi, which is near Amlagora, you’ll find our cold storage facility. It’s run under the name Maa Jharboni. Siba Prasad Dutta is the one who looks after things here. We are located in the Garhbeta area of Paschim Midnapore. It’s a big, sturdy building designed to keep things from spoiling in the West Bengal heat. Farmers from all around this part of Midnapore bring their harvests to us, mostly potatoes because that’s what grows best nearby. The inside is always cold and smells a bit like damp earth and sacks. We spend a lot of time checking the temperature gauges and moving crates around with the lifters. It isn’t glamorous work. The trucks start lining up early in the morning, and the drivers wait around in the shade of the trees outside our walls. We try to keep a decent schedule, but during the harvest season, everything gets a bit chaotic. Our staff lives locally, so everyone knows each other by name. We don't have a fancy reception desk or a website that does much. If you need us, you usually just come by the village and find the gate. It’s a practical business meant to help keep the food fresh for longer. We deal with the electricity bills and the maintenance as they come. It’s just a regular cold storage place doing its job day in and day out without much fuss or any corporate polish.
