You can find us in Boalia Batitaki, which is out in Midnapore. Jirent Milk Private Limited is basically run out of Shiburam Tudu’s place. It is a very rural setting here in West Midnapore and that suits the milk business just fine. We are surrounded by green fields and local farmers who have been doing this for generations. Our day starts very early, usually before the sun is even up, because that is when the milk starts coming in. There is no corporate ladder here, just a few of us making sure the milk is collected and handled right. Sometimes the roads out here get a bit muddy during the monsoon, which makes transport a real headache, but we manage. West Bengal has a lot of dairy history and we are just one small part of it in this corner of the state. We don't spend money on fancy advertisements or polished brochures. Our focus is just on the containers and the cooling and the logistics of getting things to the next stop. It is a simple life and the work is hard on the back sometimes. We know most of the people who bring their milk to us by their first names. It feels more like a community effort than a company most days. We just keep our heads down and do the work that needs doing every single morning without fail.
