Snehalakshmi Fish Processing Privatelimited

We are down in Mandarmani at Plot-96 on the ground floor. Snehalakshmi Fish Processing Private Limited is situated in the Ramnagar area, near Kalindi. Being so close to the water means we are always dealing with fish and everything that comes with it. It is a messy job sometimes, and the smell is something you just get used to after a few days. We don't have a shiny office. Our space is for cleaning, cutting, and getting the fish ready for transport. Lakshmi Narayan Jana is part of the team here. We start very early in the morning when the catch comes in. It is physically demanding work, standing for long hours and handling ice and crates. The coastal air is salty and it wears things down fast. We don't have a big marketing plan or anything like that. We just focus on the fish we get from the local boats. It is a simple operation and we like it that way. Most of the people working here are from the nearby villages. We know each other well and we just get on with the work. The tourists go to the beach, but we are back here in the processing unit making sure the orders are filled. It is just a regular local business trying to do things the right way without any extra drama.
