We are based in Village Gimageria, which is near Contai in Midnapore. The exact spot is number 676. We run Sattar Exim Llp from here. Being in a village means things move at a different pace than they do in Kolkata. We handle export and import stuff, mostly dealing with local goods that need to go elsewhere or bringing things in for the area. It’s a lot of manual record-keeping and making sure the transport trucks know where to go. The roads around here can be a bit rough, especially after the monsoon, so we spend a fair bit of time worrying about delivery schedules. Our office isn't anything special to look at, just a practical space where we can keep our files and take calls. We know most of the people in Gimageria, and they know us. It’s a small community. We started this because there was a need for a business like ours in this part of Midnapore. We don't have a website with flashy photos; we just have our office and our reputation among the local traders. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just have to wait it out or work by candlelight if it’s late. It’s just the way things are here. We focus on getting the goods moved and making sure the numbers add up at the end of the month. It’s honest, hard work and we're used to it. The life of a trader in a village is never quite finished.
