Our workplace, Bahubali Boards Pvt. Ltd., is situated at 843/A in the Medchal Village IDA. Being in an industrial development area means there is always a lot of noise from trucks and other factories nearby. We spend our days dealing with heavy boards, glue, and cutting machines. The floor is usually covered in a bit of dust despite our attempts to sweep it every evening. It’s a large shed where we keep the raw materials and the finished boards stacked up high. The air smells like wood and chemicals most of the time, which you just get used to after a week of working here. Medchal is a bit far from the main city, so the commute can be long for some of the staff, but it’s quieter out here in the evenings. We don't have a big office with air conditioning; we mostly stay on the shop floor making sure the machines are running right and the sizes are cut according to what was asked. Sometimes a machine breaks down and we have to spend a few hours fixing it ourselves with oily hands. It’s physical work and your back definitely feels it by the end of the shift. We just focus on getting the stacks ready for the transport trucks that come in the morning. It is a plain industrial job and we don’t try to make it sound like anything else.
