Bhavani Shankar & Co (Groundnut Seed Decortcating)

We run Bhavani Shankar & Co out in Narsapur village. It’s in the Medak district, part of the Siddipet area. Our facility is at House Number 5-34, Survey Number 477/A. It’s a rural spot, which makes sense since we do groundnut seed decorticating. The machines can get quite loud when they're running full speed. There’s always the smell of earth and nuts in the air. We’ve got a big shed where the processing happens. It’s a family-run thing, mostly. My uncle handles the machinery and I take care of the people coming in. We see a lot of local farmers bringing their harvests. Some days are slow, but when the harvest comes in, we’re working until late at night. The power cuts in the village can be a bit of a problem sometimes, but we have a backup. We don't have a big office or anything, just a small room with a desk and some chairs where we sit and talk to customers. It’s a bit dusty, but that’s just how it is with groundnuts. We’ve lived here all our lives, so everyone knows where to find us. It’s practical work. We just focus on getting the seeds cleaned and ready. Nothing complicated about it. We’re just local folks doing what needs to be done for the season. Often, we share a cup of tea with the farmers while they wait for their loads to be finished.
