Operating out of Baripada in the Mayurbhanj district, our office is tied to the local Roads and Buildings division. Pradeep Kumar Bose handles the day-to-day coordination here. It’s a different kind of setup compared to the massive smelting plants in other districts. Much of our time goes toward coordinating infrastructure and regional projects for Vedanta Aluminium Limited. Because the office is in an older part of town, it feels a lot more lived-in than some corporate headquarters. Meetings with local engineers and officials take up a good portion of the week. There’s always some new construction project to discuss or a map to go over. When we aren't at our desks, we’re usually out checking progress on a site. For a break, the tea stall down the road serves a really good cup that we all enjoy together. Our staff is small, so we have to stay on top of things ourselves. When the monsoon hits, work slows down for a bit, and we just wait it out. It’s a practical, no-nonsense job that requires a lot of face-to-face talk with people in the community. Impressing folks isn't the goal; we just want to do the groundwork for the company’s regional interests. Baripada is a steady place to be, and we like being part of it. Even with all the construction dust, it’s a good environment. We just keep our heads down and handle the tasks as they arrive.
