Seemanta Engineering College

Our college is out in Jharpokharia, which is part of the Mayurbhanj district. It is a bit of a trek if you are coming from the bigger cities, but that makes it a quiet spot for studying engineering. The campus is spread out enough that you don't feel cramped. We have been here for a long time now. The local area is mostly rural, so the college stands out a bit. We have students who stay in the hostels and others who commute from the nearby villages. The buildings are built for utility. We have labs with various pieces of equipment for the different branches of engineering. It’s not a shiny new tech park. It feels more like a place where you actually get your hands dirty learning how things work. The weather out here in Odisha can be tough, especially in the summer, but we have enough trees around to keep some shade. In the evenings, you’ll see students walking around the grounds or sitting near the main entrance talking. It is a very grounded environment. We don't have much in the way of high-end cafes or anything. Just the canteen and the classrooms. Life moves at a bit of a slower pace here compared to the city. We focus on getting through the syllabus and making sure the students understand their subjects before they head off for exams. It is a long process, but we keep at it every semester.
