Our place is located in Walliganj, which is a part of Baripada in the Mayurbhanj district. We operate out of a space under the name of Raimat Marandi. It is a local operation through and through. Baripada is a town with a lot of history when it comes to textiles, and we are just another small part of that tradition. We do not have a big corporate office with glass walls or anything modern like that. It is more of a practical work space where we can actually get things done without distractions. The area around us is usually quiet enough, though it gets a lot busier during the local festivals when everyone is out. We handle various kinds of fabrics and threads. Most of what we do involves making sure the local demand for cloth is taken care of. We sit around the wooden table, look at what has arrived in the latest shipment, and figure out where it needs to go next. Sometimes the heavy rains in Mayurbhanj make it difficult to move things around, but we always find a way to manage. The building is simple and a bit old, but we like it that way. It keeps our costs down and lets us stay focused on the textiles themselves. People know us by our first names around here. If you come by, you will likely find us sorting through bags or talking to a driver.
