Nagrajole Primary School

Down in Sirkali East, you’ll find us at No 3/12 on Pattanathar Colony 1St Street. Nagrajole Primary School is a small place. We’re in the 609111 area of Nagapattinam. It’s a typical neighborhood school. The street is narrow, so it gets a bit crowded when the kids arrive in the morning. We have a few classrooms and a small office where we keep all the records. The kids are mostly from the houses right around here. You can hear them reciting their lessons from the street. It’s a very local vibe. The building could use a fresh coat of paint, but it holds up well against the coastal weather. We have some trees in the yard that provide a bit of shade during the hot afternoons. The teachers are mostly women from the colony who have been with us for years. We don't have a lot of equipment. We use a lot of charts and handmade drawings on the walls. It’s a noisy, happy place for the most part. We deal with scraped knees and lost pencils every day. Pattanathar Colony is a friendly spot, and we feel like a big family here. Sometimes the parents come in to talk about their kids’ progress while we’re busy with lunch. It’s just the way things are here in Sirkali. We aren't doing anything fancy, just teaching the basics and making sure the little ones are safe until their parents pick them up at the gate.
