We’ve been here at 56 Pattamangalam Street for quite some time now. People around Manikoondu usually just drop by when they need a specific bolt or a particular tool they can’t find anywhere else. It’s a busy spot, and the shop is often full of stuff piled up in corners. We try to keep things organized, but in a hardware business, there’s always something new arriving or someone looking for a part that’s buried under ten other things. Most days involve just helping people figure out what size pipe fitting they need or finding the right nails for a home project. We don't have a fancy showroom. It's just a regular shop with shelves reaching the ceiling. Sometimes the dust gets on everything, but that's just how it goes when you deal with metal and construction supplies all day. If you walk past the Manikoondu landmark, you'll see us. We open pretty early because that's when the local workers start their day. It’s a lot of lifting heavy boxes and checking inventory lists by hand. We know most of the regulars by their first names. It’s just us here, making sure the shelves aren't empty when someone needs a quick fix for a leak or a broken gate. We don't do anything flashy. It's just hard work and keeping track of thousands of small items. The street gets loud in the afternoon, but we just keep at it until closing time.
