L K S Jewellers is right on 3, Gandhiji Road, specifically on Narayana Pillai Street. We are near the Manikundu landmark in Mayiladuthurai. It is a spot where a lot of people walk by every day. Our shop isn't the biggest, but we have been here long enough that people know us. We spend our time looking at small things, making sure the pieces are cleaned and looking okay. It’s a lot of sitting and focusing on details. The street outside can be quite loud with the traffic and the markets nearby, but inside it stays relatively quiet. We like it that way because it helps us concentrate. We aren't a big chain store or anything like that. It is a local business where we know many of the faces that come through the door. Some people come in just to ask a question or have something checked. We don't mind. The work involves a lot of patience. Sometimes we stay late to finish up a task. Mayiladuthurai is a nice place to work, especially with the history around Gandhiji Road. We keep our displays simple and just focus on the items we have. There are no fancy lights or gimmicks here. Just the jewelry and the people who work here. Sometimes we have to use magnifying glasses for a long time, and it makes your eyes tired by the evening. We just take a break and look out at the street.
