Rasana Treding Company is Shop No-6 C inside the Navin Mandi Sthal in Mawana. Since we are in the mandi, our life follows the cycle of the crops and the trucks. It’s a very dusty place and it gets extremely loud when the farmers come in with their loads from the fields. We are located in the Post-Mawana area of the tehsil. We deal in trading, which means a lot of talking on the phone and checking the market prices. The shop is small and usually filled with bags of whatever is in season. I spend my days sitting on a wooden bench, drinking tea and waiting for the next delivery. It’s not the kind of place where you’d see a suit and tie. Most of us wear simple clothes because everything gets dirty within an hour of starting work. Mawana is a small place, so everybody knows everybody else in the market area. We have been in this specific shop for a long time. The roof leaks a bit when the monsoon is heavy, so we have to move the stock around to keep it dry. We don't have any fancy brochures or a website. People just know where Shop 6 C is. Sometimes business is fast and we are running around all day, and other days it’s just sitting and watching the birds. It is a simple way to make a living, but it works for us. We try to stay honest in our dealings here.
