Standard Shopping Center

At Standard Shopping Center, we’ve been operating out of Plot No.101 at Viti Chowk for a good bit now. Being near the By Pass Road in Mau Sadar means there’s always something going on outside. The shop is right in the middle of things, close to the Post Office, so it’s easy for folks to find us when they are out running errands. It’s a bit of a maze inside sometimes with all the stuff we carry, but we know where everything is. The shelves are usually pretty full and we’re constantly shifting things around to make more room. It can get loud with the traffic from the bypass, especially in the mornings when everyone is heading to work. We don’t use any big words to describe what we do. It’s just a shop where people come to get what they need. Some days the power goes out and we just have to wait it out or work by the light from the door. It’s just part of being in Mau. We talk to the neighbors and keep an eye on the street. The floor gets dusty with all the foot traffic but that’s a sign of a busy day. We just keep the doors open and see who comes in. It’s a simple life running a center like this. We don’t worry about being the biggest, just about being here when someone stops by and needs something for their home.
