Shamim Tex is right in the heart of Rauza Bazar. If you walk through the main part of the market, you will find us surrounded by other shops selling clothes and fabrics. We focus on textiles, mostly basics that people need for their everyday lives or for making their own clothes. The shop is full of rolls of cloth and the smell of new fabric. It's a small space, so we have to stack things pretty high to fit it all in. We've been in Rauza Bazar for years, and we have seen the market change quite a bit, but we just keep doing our thing. It gets very crowded on market days, and sometimes it is hard to even walk through the door, but we like the buzz of it. We are just regular people trying to make a living and provide something useful to the neighborhood. We don't have fancy lights or a big sales team, it's usually just a couple of us helping out whoever walks in. Sometimes we have a cup of tea with the neighbors while we wait for customers. The floor is a bit uneven and the shelves are old wood, but they hold the weight of the fabric just fine. We just take things as they come and try to be helpful when someone is looking for a specific color or pattern. It can be a long day standing on your feet, but we enjoy the work.
