Vinod Kumar General Stores has been sitting here by the Mathura Gate for a long time. Being near the Power Station makes it easy for people to explain where we are located. We sell a bit of everything, from soap and biscuits to basic household items that people run out of. The shop is quite packed, so you have to be careful not to knock anything over when you walk in. I spend most of my day behind the counter, chatting with the locals who stop by for their daily milk or bread. It’s a neighborhood spot, so I know most of the customers by name and what they usually buy. The shelves are wooden and a bit worn out, but they hold everything just fine. Sometimes the children from the nearby houses come in with a few coins for some sweets. It’s not a supermarket; it’s just a regular general store where things are simple. The street outside is always busy with people heading towards the gate, so there is plenty to look at when things are quiet inside. We open early in the morning and don't close until late in the evening. There isn't any fancy technology here, just a simple notebook for keeping track of things and a stool to sit on. It’s a steady kind of life, and we are happy to be a part of the daily routine for the people living around here.
