Shri Om Hospital

Shri Om Hospital is right at the Bhuteshwar Crossing. If you know the area, you know the big petrol pump nearby. We are right opposite to it. The crossing is always packed with rickshaws and motorbikes honking their horns. It can be pretty loud inside the hospital sometimes, but you get used to the noise after a few days. We chose this spot because it’s easy for people to reach from different parts of Bhuteshwar. We have a small lobby with some plastic chairs and a TV that is usually playing the news. The hospital stays open late, and the lights from the petrol pump across the street shine into our front windows at night. We have a few doctors who come in on shifts and a small group of nurses who have been with us for years. We do a lot of cleaning because the dust from the intersection is never-ending. We have a little desk where we keep all the patient files in color-coded folders, though they usually end up in a mess by the end of the week. There’s a small tea shop right next door where we get our morning chai. It’s a busy, cramped kind of life here at the crossing, but it’s what we know. We don't have any fancy mission statements or anything like that. We just show up, open the doors, and start seeing whoever is waiting outside at the crossing.
