Matang Perfumers

Our little shop, Matang Perfumers, is right across from the Iskcon Temple. If you are walking towards the temple entrance, you will probably smell the oils and incense before you see us. It’s a small space, mostly filled with bottles and glass jars. We spend our days mixing scents and talking to people who come by after their prayers. The area is always busy with devotees and tourists. It’s a good spot to be. We don't use any fancy machines; it's mostly just doing things by hand. My family has been around this area for a long time. We know the smells that people like. It’s not like those big perfume brands in the malls. Ours are more traditional and simple. Sometimes it gets a bit dusty with the road right there, but we keep the shop tidy. We have all kinds of scents, some very strong and some very light. It depends on what people are looking for. Usually, it's just me or one of my relatives behind the counter. We talk to the regulars and help the new people find something they like. The temple bells ring all day, which is a nice sound to work to. We don't have a big website or anything like that. We just stay here and sell our perfumes and oils to whoever walks in the door. It is a quiet life even in a busy place. We just focus on the glass bottles and the scents.
